4/22/2025 Update:

Thank you to all the members of Local 1653 that voted in this most recent election. 

While the results were not what I had hoped, I hope I started a conversation about how we can build a stronger, more representative Local, together. 

I have always believed, and still do, that the most important position in any union is that of the informed, involved member. I encouraged all members to ask your Executive Board members how you can get involved, and encourage your non-member coworkers to join the union. 

I plan on leaving this website up for the time being as a springboard for discussion, and encourage members and Executive Board members to use this information to advocate for what I believe are needed reforms to our Local.
